If you’ve ever been told your stomach pain is “just stress,” you’re not alone. Many of the women I work with have seen several specialists, yet still don’t know what’s actually causing their stomach pain.
When one of my clients first came to me, she’d already seen multiple specialists and tried nearly every medication available. Yet, nothing truly worked. The real breakthrough came when we shifted away from prescriptions and focused instead on uncovering the root causes of her symptoms. It was everything her body had been trying to tell her along.
When the Stomach Pain Started
She’s a brilliant marketing executive who runs her own business and works with high-end clients. She’s someone who seems to have it all together. On the outside, her days look seamless, productive, and successful.
But by 2 PM every day, her mornings of focus and energy would come to a crashing halt. She’d be doubled over with stomach pain.
Her mornings started off fine. Coffee, emails, meetings—she could handle it all. But as the clock ticked closer to early afternoon, everything changed. The pain would hit suddenly, sometimes sharp, sometimes dull but relentless, making it nearly impossible to concentrate or continue her work.
It wasn’t just uncomfortable—it was disruptive. She found herself cutting meetings short, canceling lunch plans, and retreating to a quiet space just to get through the worst of it. Simple pleasures she once enjoyed, like taking a midday walk or meeting friends for lunch, became too daunting.
Over time, this daily cycle of pain chipped away at her energy, focus, and overall sense of well-being. No matter what she tried—doctor prescriptions, cutting out certain foods, or even just “pushing through”—the afternoon slump of stomach pain became an unavoidable part of her daily life.
Nothing Seemed to Help Her Stomach Pain
Her stomach pain escalated to the point where it was impossible to ignore. Every day, the discomfort became so severe that her doctors prescribed anti-anxiety medication alongside a cocktail of three different pain medications just to get her through the day. Yet even with this heavy regimen, relief was fleeting.
The medications came with a cost. The grogginess hit almost immediately, forcing her into daily afternoon naps just to survive the remainder of her day. Activities she once loved—like long rides with her recreational cycling group—vanished. The combination of pain and fatigue made even the simplest tasks feel insurmountable.
Despite her best efforts and adherence to her medication schedule, nothing was improving. She tried eliminating wheat from her diet, convinced that food might be the culprit, but the pain persisted. Her doctor offered little explanation beyond the familiar refrain: the pain was probably caused by “stress.”
Her situation was further complicated by an autoimmune condition and daily aspirin use to prevent blood clots. Both of these factors that increased gut irritation.
She had undergone a colonoscopy, which came back clear, but an endoscopy revealed Barrett’s esophagus. Even with this concerning diagnosis, her doctor’s recommendation was limited. The recommended she continue taking her proton pump inhibitors (PPIs), which she had already been on for years with minimal relief.
Feeling frustrated, unheard, and desperate for answers, she came to me. She wasn’t looking for another temporary fix or a pill to mask her symptoms. She wanted a real solution and a clear understanding of what was truly causing her stomach pain, bloating, migraines, and unexpected weight gain, and a plan to finally regain control of her health.

The Missing Piece to Healing Stomach Pain: Functional Lab Testing
After years of masking symptoms with medications and guessing at dietary changes, we needed a clear picture of what was actually happening in her body.
That’s where functional lab testing came in. We implemented a deeper, root-cause approach that goes beyond standard bloodwork to uncover hidden triggers and imbalances.
The first step was an MRT Food Sensitivity Test, which measures the immune system’s reaction to a wide range of foods. The results revealed strong reactions to foods she had been eating regularly. Her reactions included coconut, soy, corn, spinach, and even artificial food dyes.
These were everyday staples that she didn’t suspect were triggering chronic inflammation and gut irritation. Yet, her body was reacting to them daily, silently driving her pain and digestive distress.
Next, we ran a Micronutrient Test to assess whether her body had the nutrients it needed to repair and maintain a healthy gut. The results showed key deficiencies—nutrients that are essential for cellular repair, immune regulation, and inflammation control.
To support her gut healing, we added targeted supplementation including zinc, glutamine, carnitine, inositol, and vitamin A. These nutrients help strengthen the gut lining, reduce inflammation, and promote long-term cellular repair.
Finally, we conducted a Comprehensive Stool Test to examine her gut microbiome and immune function. The results revealed high levels of Bacteroides fragilis, a bacteria known to cause inflammation and abdominal pain. Elevated immune markers confirmed that her gut was in a state of chronic distress. She was reacting to triggers that had gone unnoticed for years.
Through these tests, we uncovered what years of symptom-masking and conventional care hadn’t revealed. We found the exact foods, nutrient gaps, and gut imbalances driving her pain. This was the critical missing piece. This information was used to craft a precise, individualized healing plan rather than continuing to treat symptoms alone.
Creating Her Personalized Plan to Heal Stomach Pain
Once we had a complete understanding of what was happening inside her body, the next step was to create a healing plan tailored specifically to her needs. This wasn’t a one-size-fits-all diet or a generic supplement protocol. Every element was carefully chosen based on her lab results, lifestyle, and goals.
She received a personalized meal plan designed to reduce inflammation, nourish her gut, and support overall healing. The plan included practical recipe ideas and food product recommendations to make implementation easy and sustainable.
Instead of restrictive rules that felt overwhelming, she had guidance on foods that actually supported her body, while still allowing for variety and enjoyment.
To help her gut start healing immediately, we incorporated mucilaginous herbs—natural compounds that coat and protect the stomach lining, reducing irritation and discomfort. These herbs provided soothing support as her digestive system gradually repaired itself, helping her feel relief even while her body was adjusting to the new diet and nutrient support.
In addition, we introduced a targeted gut-support strategy using prebiotics, probiotics, and postbiotics to help rebalance her microbiome and promote long-term gut healing.
Prebiotics fed the beneficial bacteria in her gut, probiotics helped restore healthy microbial populations, and postbiotics—bioactive compounds produced by gut bacteria. These all supported her gut to reduce inflammation. This three-pronged approach helped her microbiome stabilize, laying the foundation for sustained digestive health and resilience.
Every week, we checked in, fine-tuning her plan based on her progress, responses to foods and supplements. This made the plan dynamic and personalized—not just a temporary fix.
With this approach, she wasn’t just masking symptoms. She was addressing the root causes of her digestive issues, supporting her gut’s natural healing processes, and building a foundation for long-term wellness.
The Gut Healing Transformation We Saw
Healing is rarely instant. But with consistent support, targeted strategies, and a plan tailored to her body, real change began quickly.
Each week, we met for coaching calls to check in, answer questions, and make small adjustments to her plan based on her progress and responses to foods. This ongoing support was crucial, helping her stay on track, troubleshoot challenges, and celebrate victories—no matter how small.
By the end of just two weeks, she experienced a breakthrough: she hadn’t needed her triple pain-medication cocktail for an entire week. The relief was profound. Not only had the pain eased, but her brain fog began to lift, leaving her more focused, alert, and energized.
As she gradually reintroduced foods, she gained a newfound clarity: she could immediately sense which foods triggered discomfort, giving her the tools to make smarter choices without guesswork.
As the weeks progressed, her transformation deepened. By the three-month mark, she was completely off all three pain medications. Migraine injections, once a monthly necessity, were no longer needed. The afternoon naps that had become routine were no longer necessary—her energy returned naturally. And her cycling, once abandoned due to fatigue and pain, became a source of joy again; she even completed a 50-mile ride, something she hadn’t been able to do in years.
The physical changes were equally remarkable.
Weight loss occurred naturally, without extreme dieting or restriction. Her lab markers reflected real healing, with inflammation levels decreasing and gut health improving. Beyond the numbers, she felt a profound shift in her day-to-day life: renewed vitality, improved focus, and a restored sense of confidence and well-being.
This transformation wasn’t the result of masking symptoms with more prescriptions. It was the power of addressing the root causes, rebalancing the microbiome, supporting nutrient deficiencies, and following a personalized, sustainable plan. She didn’t just feel better—she finally felt like herself again.
Why This Method to Healing Stomach Pain Works
What made the difference for my client—and for so many others—is not more prescriptions or temporary fixes. It’s a systematic, root-cause approach: the right testing to uncover hidden triggers, a personalized plan tailored to her body, and consistent support to guide her every step of the way.
Many people don’t realize that standard medical testing often misses subtle but significant imbalances. Blood work may look “normal,” and colonoscopies may show nothing alarming, yet chronic pain, bloating, fatigue, migraines, or other symptoms persist.
When this happens, the default recommendation is often medications—pain relievers, PPIs, anti-anxiety drugs—but these only mask symptoms without addressing the underlying causes. Sometimes, they can even make the problem worse by disrupting digestion, nutrient absorption, or gut microbiome balance.
This story is far from unique. Many of my clients come to me after years of appointments with multiple specialists, feeling frustrated, unheard, and exhausted by trial-and-error treatments that never worked. They’re looking for clarity—answers that make sense, actionable steps, and a plan that actually supports their healing.
The approach I use combines functional lab testing, personalized nutrition, targeted supplementation, and ongoing coaching. This allows us to pinpoint exactly what’s triggering inflammation, nutrient deficiencies, or gut imbalances, and create a plan that supports sustainable healing.
Over time, clients experience reduced pain, improved energy, clearer thinking, and restored quality of life. Results that medications alone rarely provide.
If you’ve ever felt stuck, exhausted by endless tests, or frustrated that nothing seems to work, know this: there is another way. A way to understand your body, address the root causes of your symptoms, and finally reclaim your health and vitality—without relying solely on prescriptions.
