GERD Reset Program with an Expert GERD Dietitian Nutritionist

—GERD Dietitian · Virtual coaching

Your reflux showed up and took over your life.

You can have all of that back.

You’ve been on PPIs for months — maybe years. You’ve cut out coffee, wine, tomatoes, and everything else you enjoy. And you’re still waking up with a burning throat, still pushing through the chest tightness, still wondering what tonight’s dinner is going to cost you.

It’s the dinners you’ve stopped enjoying, the wines you’ve put down, the mornings you’ve spent managing reflux symptoms instead of getting ready for your day — and the way you’ve quietly stopped showing up in life the way you want to, in your work, with your family, and even in your own body.

I’ve worked with hundreds of women who came to me feeling like a shadow of who they used to be. Within weeks most of them tell me they forgot what it felt like to not be calculating every meal before they eat it.

There’s a root cause to your GERD & reflux. After everything you’ve been through, you deserve to finally discover what it is

Youre gut stopped working.

Here's what's actually going on.

Most women with chronic reflux have already tried the standard approach and are still struggling. In this video I walk through the root causes behind persistent digestive issues, why an endoscopy and a PPI prescription barely scratch the surface, and what changes when someone finally looks in the right places.

—Why standard GERD treatments keeps failing you

PPIs & antacids suppress the acid.

They don't fix what's causing the reflux.

Doctors prescribe PPIs because that’s the tool they have for reflux. And they work — until they don’t. Long-term PPI use comes with real consequences: depleted magnesium, B12, and calcium, increased risk of gut infections, and a rebound effect when you try to stop that makes symptoms worse than before. Meanwhile no medication addresses the food sensitivities triggering your immune system, the microbiome imbalances driving gut barrier dysfunction, or the H. pylori and dysbiosis patterns that contribute to reflux in the first place. You stay stuck in a loop of higher doses and returning symptoms — because the root cause is never actually addressed.

54%

of people on PPIs for GERD continue to have significant symptoms despite treatment — meaning the medication alone isn’t enough for nearly half of patients (1)

50%

symptom reduction seen in a randomized controlled trial of GERD patients who didn’t respond to PPIs — after just one month on a food sensitivity-guided elimination diet (2)

50-75%

symptom improvement within the first few weeks of the program for most clients

—What I actually look for

The root causes your doctor isn't

testing for.

Standard testing for GERD looks for structural damage — erosion, ulcers, Barrett’s changes. What it doesn’t look for are the food sensitivities triggering your immune system, the microbiome imbalances causing gut inflammation that affects upper GI functioning, or the nutrient depletions caused by years of PPI use and higher nutrient demands needed to repair the damage occuring. That’s why your endoscopy comes back normal while you’re still burning and hurting every day and night. My program uses functional testing specifically designed to find what standard GI workups miss.

Food Sensitivities & Immune Reactivity

MRT food sensitivity testing identifies the specific foods triggering immune reactions and gut inflammation that are driving your reflux — including foods on zero standard avoid lists that you’d never think to question. A 2014 randomized controlled trial found that GERD patients who didn’t respond to PPIs saw symptoms drop by 50% on a food sensitivity-guided elimination diet.

Gut Microbiome Imbalances

Shotgun metagenomic stool analysis maps your entire gut ecosystem — identifying dysbiosis patterns, opportunistic bacterial overgrowths, infections like H. pylori, and the microbiome imbalances that contribute directly to reflux, impaired gastric motility, and gut barrier dysfunction.

Nutrient Deficiencies

Long-term PPI use depletes magnesium, B12, calcium, zinc, and iron — nutrients essential for gut lining integrity and nerve function. Furthermore, the nutrients needed to heal upper GI mucosa and cell damage require additonal antioxidant support and other nutrients. Micronutrient testing identifies exactly what’s been depleted so your supplement protocol is targeted and therapeutic, not random guesswork.

Diet & Lifestyle as the Foundation

Testing tells us what’s driving your reflux. Diet and lifestyle changes are how we address it. We use your results to build a real eating plan — not a generic avoid list — and address the other factors contributing to your symptoms including stress, physical activity, toxin exposure, sleep hygiene, meal timing, and more.

Sarah Neumann Haske, MS, RDN Registered Dietitian & Clinical Microbiome Specialist. As an IBS Dietitian she offers a Total Gut Reset Program.

Sarah Neumann Haske, MS, RDN GERD & Reflux Dietitian · Asheville, NC

I built this practice because women kept being told their reflux was managed.

It wasn't.

I’m a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist and Certified Microbiome Analyst with 20 years of clinical experience — the last decade spent entirely on digestive health.

I see a specific type of client over and over: women who’ve been on PPIs for years, who’ve done everything their doctor told them to do, whose endoscopy came back relatively normal, BUT they’re still hurting every night and planning every meal around what might set them off.

That’s not managing your health.

I’ve worked with hundreds of women who spent years going from prescription to prescription, appointment to appointment, getting temporary relief but never a real answer for why the reflux kept coming back.

My approach uses advanced functional testing to find what’s actually driving the reflux — food sensitivities, microbiome imbalances, nutrient depletions — and real food and lifestyle changes to address it directly. I provide you a real plan built around what your body actually needs.

—Real Results

What clients say after

working with Sarah

Sarah has absolutely changed my life for the better. I spent years with terrible stomach pain that doctors never had an answer for. But through her process I have gained my life back. She helped me discover what foods and chemicals were causing my gut issues and taught me how to navigate eating without them.

—Ansley

Sarah helped me put my life back together. I was having intense abdominal pain daily and couldn’t identify which foods were the culprit. With rigorous testing we found that many of my go-to foods were the problem. I’m now pain free and drug free — no antispasmodics, no pain killers. I’m back to long cycling trips and daily weight training. Basically I’m back to living my life.

—Christine

Thanks to Sarah’s program I’ve drastically reduced painful reflux episodes and can now enjoy long mountain bike rides and even begin to wean off medication I’ve been on for years. Sarah’s expertise and supportive approach made all the difference — both technical knowledge and real guidance throughout the process.

—How the GERD reset program works

The GERD Reset Program—

step by step

No cookie-cutter protocols. No AI-generated supplement lists. Here’s exactly what working together looks like:

Free Assessment Call

We talk through your reflux history, what you’ve already tried, and what your current symptoms look like. I’ll tell you honestly whether I think I can help.

Functional Lab Testing

Food sensitivity, comprehensive stool, and micronutrient testing kits mailed directly to your home. These tell us far more about what’s driving your GERD than an endoscopy ever could.

Your Personalized Gut Reset Plan

A custom menu planner, grocery product picks, recipe ideas, and a clinical supplement protocol targeting your exact nutrient depletions and microbiome imbalances. Not what worked for someone else.

Ongoing Coaching & Accountability

Weekly sessions to start, biweekly after that. Food and symptom journal reviews between appointments. Real time plan adjustments as your body responds for 3 full months. You’re never left alone to figure it out.

Lasting Relief

Most clients feel meaningful improvement within the first few weeks. By month three you’re living freely again.

—What Changes

Here's what life looks like

when we finally address the root cause.

A realistic picture of what most of my clients with GERD and reflux experience within the first three months.

You sleep through the night

No more waking up with a burning throat, sour taste, or chest tightness at 2am. Nighttime symptoms are usually the first thing to improve.

You eat without a mental avoid list

Because you finally understand which foods are actually your triggers and which ones were never the problem to begin with. Your avoid list gets much shorter than you expect.

Your energy and clarity start to come back

Long-term PPI use depletes magnesium, B12, and other nutrients that affect how you feel every single day. Correcting those depletions makes a difference most clients don’t expect.

You stop spending money on things that don't work

You reduce your reliance on expensive prescriptions, urgent care visits, or procedures that lead nowhere.

You feel like yourself again

Not just physically — the mental load of constantly managing your reflux lifts too. You show up differently in your life.

You finally have clear answers

Most clients tell me they have more clarity about their reflux after three months than from every specialist appointment and prescription they tried before combined.

—What's Included

Everything in your 3 month

GERD Reset Program

MRT Food Sensitivity Testing

Identifies the specific foods triggering the immune reactions driving your reflux — including foods that never appear on a standard GERD avoid list. 176 foods and chemicals tested against your blood and your specific immune response, not a generic protocol.

Metagenomic Stool Analysis

Maps your entire gut ecosystem — identifying infections, bacterial overgrowths, dysbiosis patterns, and the microbiome imbalances contributing to your reflux, impaired gastric motility, and gut barrier dysfunction.

Micronutrient Testing

50+ nutrients tested at the cellular level — with specific attention to the depletions caused by long-term PPI use and ongoing GI mucosa and cellular repair where nutrient needs are greater than normal.

1:1 Coaching for 3 Full Months

No per-session fees. We typically meet weekly for the first month then every two weeks after that — but if you need more time together we make it happen. Three months, no clock watching.

Food & Symptom Journal Review

I review your journals between sessions to track patterns, catch trigger foods that haven’t surfaced yet, and adjust your plan as your gut responds. Nothing slips through.

Personalized GERD Meal Plan

A custom menu planner, grocery shopping list, real food product recommendations, and recipe ideas built around your actual results — not a generic list of foods to avoid. Changes that fit your real life, not just a theory on paper.

—Why this works

Why the GERD Reset Program works

when every PPI, avoid list, and specialist appointment hasn't

01

The right order matters

Most women come to me having already tried pieces of this — cut out coffee, tried a probiotic, maybe done some bloodwork. The problem isn’t effort. It’s sequence. There’s a specific clinical order to addressing GERD at the root cause level and when you skip steps or try things randomly, nothing sticks. We start with the testing that tells us exactly what’s driving your reflux, build the plan around what we find, and layer in the changes in the order your body can actually respond to them.

02

Testing that actually finds the answer

An endoscopy rules out structural damage. It doesn’t find the food sensitivities triggering your immune system, the H. pylori or dysbiosis patterns disrupting your gastric function, or the nutrient depletions caused by years of acid suppression. The three functional tests in this program were specifically designed to find those root causes — and none of them are tests your GI doctor orders.

03

You won’t be left to figure it out yourself

A lab report means nothing without someone who knows how to read it in the context of your full history and build a real plan around it. I interpret everything, explain what it means for your specific symptoms, and stay with you for the full three months. Weekly sessions to start, biweekly after that — and I review your food and symptom journals between appointments so nothing gets missed and no trigger slips through unnoticed.

04

Results that come faster than you expect

Most clients see 50-75% improvement in symptoms within the first few weeks — not after months of waiting. Because when you remove immune food triggers, address the microbiome imbalances, and correct the depletions that have been slowing your healing, your body responds quickly. The three months is where the deeper healing happens, the PPI dependence reduces, and the changes become something you can actually maintain.

—Why going it alone keeps you stuck

You've already tried to figure this out.

It hasn't worked

You’ve Googled every combination of symptoms. You’ve cut out coffee, wine, citrus, and chocolate. You’ve tried apple cider vinegar, digestive enzymes, elevating your bed, not eating after 7pm, and probably a handful of supplements someone on the internet swore would fix it. Maybe you’ve even tried weaning off your PPIs yourself — and found out the hard way why that doesn’t work without addressing what’s underneath.

And you’re still burning. Still waking up at 2am. Still wondering what’s on the dinner menu before you agree to go out.

It’s not because you haven’t tried hard enough. It’s because reflux that doesn’t respond to standard treatment almost always has a specific root cause — and without knowing what that root cause actually is, every change you make is a guess. Some guesses temporarily reduce symptoms. Most just waste time and money while the underlying problem keeps going.

The other problem is noise. One source says cut gluten. Another says it’s low stomach acid, not too much. Your friend swears by a specific probiotic. An influencer is selling a gut reset cleanse. None of them have seen your labs, know your history, or have any accountability if it doesn’t work for you.

That’s the difference between trying random things and actually having a step-by-step plan built around what’s driving your specific reflux. One keeps you stuck in the same loop. The other gets you out of it.

“That’s the difference between trying radom things and actually having a step by step plan to solve it.”

—Common Questions

Common questions about the

GERD Reset Program

CAN I WORK WITH YOU IF I'M CURRENTLY ON PPI's?

Yes — and most clients come to me while still on PPIs. We don’t stop medications abruptly. As your symptoms improve through the program, we work on reducing your dose gradually and in coordination with your prescribing doctor.

DO YOU RECOMMEND SUPPLEMENTS?

Often I will recommend some sort of supplemental protocol to help speed up your recovery. The supplements I recommend will be specific to your needs, not contain any of your sensitivities, and give you the specific nutrients you need in therapeutic dosages. As a courtesy, my program clients get 15% off professional grade supplements when they shop via my online dispensary while working with me.

HOW MANY SESSIONS DOES THE PROGRAM INCLUDE?

There’s no limit to the number of sessions we have in the 3 months of working together, we meet as often as you need to get the best result. Typically that looks like once a week for the first 3-4 weeks and every 2-3 weeks there after. In between sessions you can ask simple questions, while more detailed or ongoing questions are best discussed during appointments

WHAT KIND OF LABS DO YOU DO? CAN I JUST HAVE MY DOCTOR ORDER THEM?

I use specialized functional medicine lab tests that aren’t available in conventional medical practices or covered by insurance. These may include food sensitivity, comprehensive stool, and in-depth micronutrient tests. Your conventional primary care doctor doesn’t use these tests because they aren’t covered by insurance.

People who’ve eliminated their symptoms with my program often have had other tests done with their conventional medical provider that either came back “fine” or offered no direction for therapy. With my program you won’t waste your time going back and forth between your doctor and your health insurance.

If you already have results from a colonoscopy, endoscopy, celiac panel, or other blood test, you’ll want to submit those to me as part of your assessment. If you plan to work with me and haven’t had a physical in the past year, I’ll give you a list of basic lab work to ask your doctor to order; often doctors will skip over important labs unless you ask.

HOW DO WE MEET?

I’m a virtual practitioner so that means I can meet with you wherever you are. We’ll meet either via my online secure video chat (accessed within your client portal) OR if that’s too techy for you we can meet via phone call. Whatever you feel most comfortable with.

HOW LONG IS YOUR PROGRAM? WHEN CAN I GET STARTED?

The program is 3 months long. This is the minimum amount of time we’ll need to make sure you’re on the right path for healing. During your free clairity call I’ll let you know if I think I can help and if we’re a good fit. When you decide to sign up, we’ll get started once we receive your food sensitivity results which is typically 10-14 days after our initial call.

DO YOU TAKE INSURANCE?

My GERD Reset Program is not covered by insurance but you’ll get so much more than what insurance allows or deems “billable” or “necessary.” All clients are self pay. I offer the option for a 6 month payment plan with CareCredit. In some cases you can use your HSA or FSA card to pay for the program (you’ll have to check with them first).

The majority of my clients pay out of pocket for the program because they know their health is worth than a 7 minute doctor visit and another expensive prescription that just doesn’t work.

You can’t put a price on your health and on being able to eat, travel, and function without pain or discomfort from your reflux. My program will save you time, thousands of dollars in the long run, and provide the answers you’ll need for complete healing.

HOW DO I KNOW IF A DIETITIAN IS QUALIFIED?

A qualified dietitian has:

  • A 4-year bachelor’s degree in dietetics

  • Completed a 1-year supervised internship

  • Passed a national registration exam

  • Maintains credentials with continuing education (CEUs)

I also hold a Master of Science in Human Nutrition, have over 20 years of experience in dietetics, with 10 years specializing in gut health. I’m a certified LEAP therapist (offering food sensitivity testing), a Certified Microbiome Analyst (offering comprehensive stool testing), and I provide micronutrient testing with personalized interpretations for your gut health situation and lifestyle.

HOW MUCH DOES A GUT HEALTH DIETITIAN CHARGE?

Fees for a Gut Health Dietitian will vary depending on:

  • Education and credentials

  • Years of experience

  • Specialty certifications

  • Services offered (lab testing, meal planning, coaching)

Private-pay dietitians, typically charge between $130–$200/hour.  The rate is determined by their credentials, certifications, specialties, and years experience.

The cost of a 3-month coaching program by an expert Gut Health Dietitain is determined by the level of their experience in this specialty, the types and number of tests used, and level of 1:1 coaching support provided.

HOW DO I VET A GERD DIETITIAN?

Useful questions to ask a potential GERD Dietitian:

  • How often do you work with people with reflux & GERD? Are you comfortable working with my specific condition?
  • Do you provide meal plans and deteailed coaching for implementing dietary changes into my lifestyle?
  • Do you understand the difference between a food allergy, food intolerance, and food sensitivity? Do you know how food sensitivities contribute to immune reactions and gut inflammation? Do you know which foods are common irritants for reflux?
  • Do you know how to interpret microbiome tests and know which ones are best? Do you understand the important role of microbiome imbalances in GERD & reflux and utilize research backed tools to rebalance it? Do you understand that use of certain herbs at high doses can actually harm the delicate ecosystem of keystone beneficial bacteria? Do you understand how to asses if someone is producing inflammatory by-products from overgrowths of opportunistic bacteria? Do you know how to assess and interpret inflammatory markers on these reports? Do you know what foods support a healthy microbiome?
  • Do you understand which nutrient deficiencies are linked to GERD and slowed healing?
  • Do you offer frequent check-ins to evaluate progress and adust my plan as needed?
  • Do you evaluate my food and symptom journals to identify food sensitivities or intolerances that may have been missed?

WILL I NEED TO CHANGE MY DIET IF I'M WORKING WITH A GERD DIETITIAN?

Most likely, yes — but the changes will be likely be so beneficial that you won’t miss your old way of eating.  Your diet will be individualized based on your food sensitivity test results and overall digestive profile.

I provide coaching with:

  • Recipe ideas and how to edit them to fit your new diet

  • Food product recommendations you can find at your grocery store and that don’t contain your reactivities

  • A detailed menu planner to help you implement your food sensitivity results in real life

You may need to temporarily dicontinue eating out, stop drinking alcohol, and remove your individual trigger foods. Typically, foods are removed for 3–6 months and can often be reintroduced as your immune system resets in ~90-day cycles. The diet is temporary, and many of my clients report immediate digestive relief, increased energy, boosted mood, mental clarity, and a reduction in water retention & extra weight they’ve been holding onto.

WHAT STEPS SHOULD I TAKE TO GET READY FOR THIS 3 MONTH GUT HEALTH COACHING PROGRAM?

To prepare for your 3 month GERD Reset Program, you’ll want to:

  • Stop unnecessary supplements so your body is clear for micronutrient testing and Phase 1 of the MRT food sensitivity diet. If supplements are absolutely neccesary, we can find alternatives that fit your food sensitivity profile.
  • Go through your pantry and remove packaged foods with long ingredient lists.  Keep ingredient lists simple.
  • Start exploring ideas for healthier foods — visit my Pinterest page for inspiration.
  • Begin shifting your mindset — check out my meditation blog and the Insight Timer for guided support.
